As promised, here is the pattern for the owl quilt I designed (see previous post). The three owls should each fit on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. The tree pattern is 36" x 42" which will fit a yard of fabric, but take plenty of paper to print. All the patterns are reversed because I copied them onto freezer paper which I ironed to the back of the fabric. I then ironed the seam allowances under using starch to hold them down. I used temporary fabric glue to position everything on the background and then did a narrow zigzag stitch around each piece with clear or smoke monofilament thread. I used white fabric paint for the dots on the eyes. I also took liberties with any sharp points, making them less sharp for easier construction. And then I decided against the closed eyes on the third owl, since I liked the eyes open with the fabric I had.
