I got the e-mail from the National Quilt Museum. My Fractal Blooms quilt is a finalist in the New Quilts from an Old Favorite contest (Nine Patch block). Yay!
This blog has nothing to do with Buffalo, but we should count our blessings where we find them, and I feel blessed not to be digging out from 6 feet of snow.
And thanks for the kind comments on my first blog ever. As you see, I have been encouraged to do a second blog.
Well, the craft fair was fun, but not a financial success for me. I suspected that might happen. It was good to put my work on display though, and I am glad that it got me motivated to do this website.

Now I need to figure out how to get this website to come up in a search. When I type in "Krasnansky quilts", virtually all of the references are about me (it pays to have an unusual last name), but none of them are this website. Even my daughter's self-published book which I will shamelessly promote here comes up first. Never fear, I am a software engineer. No doubt I will conquer this mystery ... and then I will have something new to write about.
I am supposed to be writing about quilts, though. So, I just finished two quilts and mailed them off to Annie's yesterday to go in a book they are publishing. Here's a picture of one of them:

It has been a rush to the finish. The other one is a twin-size bed quilt, so it took a while to get through all the quilting and binding. It is good to have them out of the way now.
And I am still waiting to see if I got in for the National Quilt Museum's New Quilts from an Old Favorite contest. I should have heard by Nov 15th, but no news yet. In past years, an e-mail announced bad news as well as good news, so I am assuming they are just late in jurying it.
And thus ends blog #2.

So, here it is. My first blog ever. Why, you may ask, after 50 blissful blog-free years would I put fingertips to keyboard now? It is all because my church is hosting a craft fair this weekend. I am a crafty person, so I thought I should have a table there. And then I thought I should make lots of things to sell there. And then I thought I should have a business card to hand out while I am there. And then I thought my business card should have a website on it. And then I thought my website should have a blog. And here we are.
For Baltimore locals: The craft fair is being held at Faith Fellowship Church, 4375 Ebenezer Road, Perry Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I generally like to make quilts, and I will bring some quilts, but I doubt that craft fair visitors would be planning to spend as much as I would need to charge for them. So I have made a few other things.

They are simple to make. On the first one I did, I added a garland of beads. It doubled the amount of time it took to make it, and I think I like the clean lines of the ones without it. Perhaps if I manage to keep up this blog, I will post a pattern and instructions. The hardest part is getting the bead on top attached. It has to be sewn on tightly so that it stands up straight, and it is difficult to work in the narrow area at the top of the tree. I used a doll needle (approximately 4" long), but it was still tricky.
I also made some of these fabric boxes:

I used this tutorial from Sometimes Crafter. It was fun to pick out coordinating pairs of fabric - addictive, really. I probably would have made another half dozen if I hadn't run out of time.
