Here's what I made for the Baltimore Heritage Quilt Guild summer challenge. The challenge was to use only solid fabrics (i.e. no prints, no batiks, just one solid color on each fabric). The illusions of depth and light are created by strips of solid fabrics progressing from light to dark. It is made from four identical blocks. I sewed the strips together lengthwise and then did curved piecing to match up the blues with the greens. I named it Solid Lines. It won second prize for the challenge. Those BHQG quilters are some stiff competition!
I had enough material to make two (they are only 14" square). This time I rotated the blocks so that the greens form a circle. This one is called Solid Circle. I put them in my Etsy store.
I am making another pair with the same design in warm colors (reds and pinks) to donate to the BHQG silent auction that they hold during their quilt show in March.
